Who We Are
भारत का पहला सफेद शेर
सर्वप्रथम white tiger (सफेद बाघ ) रीवा जिले में पाया गया जिसका नाम मोहन था. मोहन की वजह से विन्ध्य को पूरे विश्व में पहचान मिली, आज भी मोहन के वंशज कई देशों में हैं
मोहन को जिसने भी देखा वो बस उसी का हो के रह गया. मोहन जीवित रूप में पकड़ा जाने वाला पहला white tiger था
ये भी लगता है की उनका सफेद शेर मोहन अभी भी white tiger safari मुकुंदपुर में है. तो चलिए आज उन सब की गलतफहमी दूर की जाय.क्या है white tiger मोहन का इतिहास27 मई 1951 को महाराजा मार्तंड सिंह अपने शाही मेहमान जोधपुर के राजा अजीत सिंह के साथ बाघिन का शिकार करने सीधी के पनखोरा गाँव के पास पहुचे. उनके आने से जंगल में हलचल मच गई और तीन शावक तेजी से भाग गए लेकिन एक सफेद रंग का अद्भुत शावक गुफा में ही छिप गया, जिसे महाराजा मार्तंड सिंह मारने के बजाय पकड़ लेते है.
इसके बाद शावक को पकड़कर गोविन्दगढ़ के किले में लाया जाता है और उसका नाम मोहन रख दिया जाता है. मोहन को सभी राजा की तरह सम्मान देते थे. मोहन के जितने भी केयर टेकर थे, सभी मोहन सिंह इधर आइये उधर जाइये, इस तरह की सम्मानित भाषा का प्रयोग करते थे.अक्सर दोपहर में महाराजा फुटबाल लेकर मोहन के बाड़े के पास पहुचते थे. ऊपर छत पर बैठकर वहबाड़े की दीवार की ओर बाल फेंकते थे तो मोहन उसे पकड़ने के लिए दौड़ते थे. कई बार तो ऐसे अवसर आये जब महाराजा ने मोहन जे सर पर हाथ फेरा. रविवार के दिन मोहन खाना नहीं खाते थे, शुरुआत में इसे सामान्य रूप से लिया गया लेकिन जब यह प्रक्रिया लगातार चली तो महाराजा ने कहा की इसे दो लीटर दूध दिया जाय.10 दिसम्बर 1969 को मोहन का निधन हो गया. मोहन की मौत के दिन रीवा में राजकीय शोक घोषित किया गया था, बंदूकें झुककर सलामी दी गई थी.ऐसा रहा white tiger मोहन का सफर1955 में पहली बार सामान्य बाघिन के साथ ब्रीडिंग कराइ गई जिसमे एक भी सफेद शावक पैदा नही हुए.1958 में मोहन के साथ रहने वाली राधा नाम की बाघिन ने छार शावकों को जन्म दिया, जिनका नाम मोहिनी, सुकेशी, रानी और राजा रखा गया. 1960 में अमेरिका के तत्काल्लीन राष्ट्रपति की इक्छा के बाद मोहनी को अमेरिका ले जाया गया. 8 जुलाई 1976 को आखिरी बाघ के रूप में बचे विराट की मौत हो गई और 40 सालों तक रीवा शेरोन से वीरान रहा.
9 नवम्बर 2015 को safari में विन्ध्या को लाया गया.देश में पहली बार जानवरों का बीमा सफेद बाघ मोहन का हुआ था. डाक और दूर संचार विभाग ने 1987 में डाक टिकेट जारी किया जिसमे मोहन की फोटो लगाई.
